How the Free Consult and Assessment Works
The free fitness consultation at White Gorilla Fitness is a relaxed 30 to 45 minute conversation with Coach Clay about your goals and your schedule, followed by a short safety screen and a simple day 0 progress assessment. It is not a workout you have to survive, and it is not a sales trap. You sit down, you talk, you get a few honest starting numbers, and you leave with a clear next step, whether or not you ever join a program here in Fond du Lac.
- A free fitness consultation is a relaxed 30 to 45 minute talk with Coach Clay, not a workout to survive or a sales trap.
- Booking is a quick call or form, and all you bring is comfortable clothes, water, and yourself; there is no need to get in shape first.
- Every visit includes a short Health Gate safety screen, and for some conditions we may ask for physician clearance before you start.
- The day 0 assessment is a weigh-in, a flexibility check, a tape measure, and a few simple movements; it sets a real baseline and is not a body-fat measurement.
- There is genuinely no pressure to join, because programs are one payment with no membership and no auto-renewal, and you can walk out any time.
What the free consult actually is
A free fitness consultation is a conversation, not a tryout. At our Fond du Lac studio it runs about 30 to 45 minutes and centers on three simple things: what you want to change, what you have tried before, and where you are starting from. Coach Clay does most of the listening.
You do not have to be fit to come in, and you do not need to get in shape first. Most people who book are starting over or starting for the very first time, so there is nothing to feel self conscious about. The whole point is to figure out whether a coached program actually fits your life.
Think of it as a planning session. Even if you decide to train on your own afterward, you walk out knowing your baseline and a clear first move, which is more than most people ever get for free.
How to book and what to bring
You can book by calling the studio at +1 (562) 253-2685 or by filling out the short form on our site. We meet at 8 Woodland Ave in Fond du Lac, and consults slot around our daily class times of 6 and 7am, 11am and noon, and 6 and 7pm, so you can find a window before work, over lunch, or after dinner.
Bring comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in, a bottle of water, and yourself. That is the whole list. You will not be doing a hard workout, but a few gentle movements are easier in clothes you can bend and stand in. Give yourself about an hour so nothing feels rushed.
The Health Gate safety screen and why we ask first
Before we talk training, we run a short Health Gate screen. It is a simple set of questions about injuries, surgeries, medications, blood pressure, joint pain, and anything that tends to flare up when you move. It takes just a few minutes.
The Health Gate is not there to disqualify you. It helps us coach you safely and adjust movements so you are never pushed into something that hurts. If an answer raises a flag, we may ask you to get clearance from your physician before you start, and that is a normal, responsible step rather than a rejection.
White Gorilla Fitness focuses on strength, movement, and daily habits. We do not diagnose or treat any condition, so for anything medical your doctor is the right partner, and we are glad to coach alongside their guidance.
Your day 0 baseline assessment
The last part of the visit is a simple progress assessment that sets your day 0 starting numbers. We do a weigh-in, a flexibility check like a sit-and-reach, a few measurements with a tape measure at the waist and hips, and a few easy functional movements such as a chair-stand to see how many you can do in good form.
None of this is pass or fail, and none of it is a body-fat measurement. It is just a real, written baseline. Six weeks later we repeat the same measurements, so your progress is compared against your own day 0 numbers instead of a guess. That is what makes the scoreboard honest.
Why there is genuinely no pressure to join
A consult is not a sales trap, and we mean that. Our programs are one payment, with no membership, no auto-renewal, and no letter to cancel later. There is nothing to lock into on the spot, so there is no reason to corner you.
If a program is a good fit, Coach Clay will tell you what it costs and how it works, and you can think it over at home. If it is not a good fit, he will tell you that too. You can walk out any time, and plenty of people take a day or two to decide.
How to get the most from your free visit
Come with a rough idea of what you want six weeks from now, even if it is simply to move easier or to lose some weight while keeping your muscle. A clear goal gives Coach Clay something concrete to build the plan around.
Bring your questions and your real schedule, including the busy weeks. The more honest you are about your time, your history, and your sticking points, the better the plan you walk out with. Folks drive in from Oshkosh, Waupun, Ripon, and Beaver Dam, so if you have a longer trip, book a time that fits your week rather than squeezing it in.
Frequently asked questions
Is the free fitness consultation really free?
Yes. The consult, the Health Gate screen, and the day 0 assessment cost nothing, and you are under no obligation to join anything afterward. You can come, learn your starting numbers, and leave.
Do I need to be in shape before I come in?
No. Most people who book are starting over or starting fresh. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a bottle of water, and come as you are. There is nothing to prepare for.
Will I have to do a hard workout?
No. The visit is mostly conversation, plus a few gentle movements like a chair-stand so we can set your baseline. There is no workout to survive and nothing to pass.
What does the assessment actually measure?
A weigh-in, a flexibility check, waist and hip measurements with a tape measure, and a few simple movements. It is not a body-fat measurement; it is a plain starting benchmark we compare against later.
How long does it take and where is it?
Plan for about 30 to 45 minutes at our studio at 8 Woodland Ave in Fond du Lac. Consults slot around our daily class times, and we welcome folks from Oshkosh, Waupun, Ripon, and Beaver Dam.
